Introduction by Natalia Valencia (Curator)

A Columbian artist Luisa Ungar has participated in the artist in residency program at Arts Maebashi in Maebashi city, Gunma Pref., in 2017. Ungar showed her interest in Japanese animism and her research was developed around that scope.
From having the similar experience which is having being invited to Japan for the residency, and shared interest in the research, Natalia Valencia who is a curator also from Columbia, AIT invited in early 2018, introduces a part of Ungar’s sound work entitled “Human Tongues”, created during Ungar’s previous stay.

Special thanks to Sumitomo Fumihiko, Kensei Ieiri, Jun Igarashi, Shuko Ebihara, Megumi Tsukui, for their generous support for Ungar’s residency and production.
